Oslo University Hospital (OUH) is Norways largest hospital with over 20 000 employees and a budget of 20 billion NOK. It is a local hospital for parts of Oslo's population. It has a regional function for the inhabitants in the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority, and it also has a large number of national functions. The Hospital is responsible for the majority of medical research and education of health personnel in Norway.

The University of Oslo (UiO) is Norway's largest research and educational institution with 28 000 students and 7 000 employees. Professional breadth and internationally recognized research environments make UiO an important contributor to society. The Faculty of Medicine was established in 1814 and is Norway's oldest medical faculty. The Faculty works for progressive education, research and dissemination for the patients and societys best interests. It is organized into three basic units and has approximately 1 500 employees (about 1 000 work years) and about 2 000 students.

Oslo University Hospital has a vacant full-time position (100 %) as Senior Consultant at the Department of Neurology, combined with a part-time (20 %) academic position as Adjunct Professor or Associate Professor at the Institute of Clinical Medicine. It is required that the position holder attends to both positions.

Regarding the full-time clinical position at OUH:

The Department is part of the Division of Clinical Neuroscience at Oslo University Hospital. The Department is split on two locations; Ullevål Hospital and Rikshospitalet. The full time position will be at Ullevål Hospital, which serves Oslo city, but also has some tertiary referral functions. At Ullevål the Department of Neurology has got a 20-bed-unit and a unit for day treatment, as well as an outpatients clinic (with cerebrovascular and urodynamic laboratories) and a separate section for clinical neurophysiology. The position is included in the Departments current shiftplan. 

Qualification requirements education and relevant personal qualities:

  • Applicants must hold an MD and be a certified specialist in clinical neurology
  • We are searching for an ambitious person with strong communication and interpersonal skills, who enjoy working in a busy working environment as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Personal aptitude and good collaborative skills will be emphasized
