Oslo University Hospital is a highly specialized hospital in charge of extensive regional and local hospital assignments. As Scandinavias largest hospital, we carry out more than 1.2 million patient treatments each year. The hospital has a nationwide responsibility for a number of national and multi-regional assignments, and has several national centers of competence. Oslo University Hospital is responsible for approximately 50 percent of all medical and health care research conducted at Norwegian hospitals, and is a significant role player within the education of a large variety of health care personnel.

Oslo University Hospital (OUH) is Norways largest hospital with over 20 000 employees and a budget of 20 billion NOK. It is a local hospital for parts of Oslo's population. It has a regional function for the inhabitants in the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority, and it also has a large number of national functions. The Hospital is responsible for the majority of medical research and education of health personnel in Norway. The University of Oslo (UiO) is Norway's largest research and educational institution with 28 000 students and 7 000 employees. Professional breadth and internationally recognized research environments make UiO an important contributor to society. The Faculty of Medicine was established in 1814 and is Norway's oldest medical faculty. The Faculty works for progressive education, research and dissemination for the patients and societys best interests. It is organized into three basic units and has approximately 1 500 employees (about 1000 work years) and about 2 000 students.


Oslo University Hospital has a vacant full-time clinical position as Senior Scientist (100 % position) at the Department of Vascular Diseases, combined with a part-time (20 %) academic position as Adjunct Professor or Associate Professor at the Institute of Clinical Medicine. It is required that the position holder attends to both positions.


Regarding the full-time clinical position at OUH:


The position is located in the Section for Vascular Investigations, Department of Vascular Diseases, OUH, currently Aker Hospital. The post holder is expected to take part in clinical work including pre- and postoperative -examinations of hospitalized patients as well as work in the outpatient clinic.  Mandatory requirements for the position: Documented clinical experience in evaluation of patients with complex vascular disturbances (arteries, veins, microcirculation) and diagnostic use of ultrasound, various plethysmography techniques and microcirculatory methods (e.g. laser Doppler and tcpO2).  The position is full time.


Qualification requirements education, research background and relevant personal qualities:


  • Applicants should have a strong background in circulatory physiology, both clinically and in research as well as a strong research background in tissue engineering. We are searching for an ambitious person with strong communication and interpersonal skills, who enjoy working in a busy working environment as part of a multidisciplinary team


  • Personal aptitude and good collaborative skills will be emphasized


  • More recent publications (especially the last five years) are given greater weight than older ones
