Oslo University Hospital (OUH) is Norways largest hospital with over 23 000 employees and a budget of 24 billion NOK. It is a local hospital for parts of Oslo's population. It has a regional function for the inhabitants in the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority, and it also has a large number of national functions. The Hospital is responsible for the majority of medical research and education of health personnel in Norway.

The Faculty of Medicine was established in 1814 and is Norway's oldest medical faculty. The Faculty works for progressive education, research and dissemination for the patients and societys best interests. A permanent position as Senior Consultant at the Unit of Clinical Immunology and Infectious Diseases is available. The unit is part of the Department of Rheumatology, Dermatology and Infectious Diseases, Division of Surgery, Inflammatory Diseases and Transplantation, Oslo University Hospital. The position is affiliated with a part time position as Adjunct Professor SKO 1013 /Associate Professor SKO 1011 (20 % position) in Medicine (Infectious Diseases) at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo (UiO). It is required that the position holder attends to both positions.

Regarding the full-time clinical position at OUH:

The main position is as senior consultant in the departments Unit of Clinical Immunology and Infectious Diseases. The unit has four consultant positions and consists of a patient ward with 13 beds (shared with the Unit of rheumatology), a day ward and an outpatient clinic. The patient focus is (i) Infectious diseases, in particular in immunocompromised patients; (ii) Immunodeficiency and immune dysregulatory disorders in adults and (iii) Patients with complex inflammatory systemic disorders of diverse etiology. The unit has a close collaboration with other clinical departments at the hospital, in particular with the Intensive Care Unit and Units of Internal Medicine. The unit is focused on using new technology in the diagnostic work-up. 

Short description of the positions work tasks

• Contribute to routine clinical activities at the unit, and participate in all aspects of treatment and follow-up of relevant patient groups
•  Contribute to improve the management of the relevant patient groups with the ambition to position the unit at a high international level in the handling of primary immunodeficiency
•  Participate in the on-call system of the unit
•  Contribute to training of residents and quality improvement activities

Qualification requirements education and relevant personal

• The applicant must possess a Norwegian specialist accreditation in infectious diseases.
• The applicant should have extensive experience with the patient groups described above.
• The applicant must have relevant research experience and a strong motivation to contribute to ongoing and future research activities related to the relevant patient populations
• Documented language skills in Norwegian or a compatible Scandinavian language is required. Applicants must be able to teach and communicate with patients in Norwegian, Swedish or Danish.
