Sunnaas Rehabilitation Hospital/Institute of Clinical Medicine

Sunnaas Rehabilitation Hospital is Norways largest specialist hospital in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation. The Hospital provides multidisciplinary rehabilitation for patients with complex functional impairment following illness or injury. The Hospital provides services at both regional and national levels.

The University of Oslo (UiO) is Norway's largest research and educational institution with 28 000 students and 7 000 employees. Professional breadth and internationally recognized research environments make UiO an important contributor to society. The Faculty of Medicine was established in 1814 and is Norway's oldest medical faculty. The Faculty works for progressive education, research and dissemination for the patients and societys best interests. It is organized into three basic units and has approximately 1 500 employees (about 1 000 work years) and about 2 000 students.

A permanent position as Senior Consultant (physical medicine and rehabilitation) is available at the Sunnaas Rehabilitation Hospital. The position is affiliated with a part time position as Professor II (20 % position) in Medicine (physical medicine and rehabilitation) at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo (UiO). It is required that the position holder attends to both positions.

Regarding the full-time clinical position at Sunnaas Rehabilitation Hospital:

As Sunnaas Rehabilitation Hospital first and foremost offers services within neurorehabilitation, the clinical position will be related to rehabilitation of brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and other neurological conditions. At the same time, the applicants should have sufficient clinical experience and expertise within physical and rehabilitation medicine in general, in order to be able to teach medical students within this field of medicine. The Professor will take part in the daily activities in the clinic.

Qualifications requirements - education and relevant personal qualities:

  • Applicant must be a specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, clinically active and have a wide experience in the clinical field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, with a focus on neurorehabilitation.
  • Applicant must have a PhD and a broad clinical research experience within the field of neurorehabilitation.
  • Certificate of good conduct
  • High ambitions and quality of teaching, research and communication is expected
  • Skills and experience in dissemination to the scientific community and the general public
  • High skills in multi disciplinary team work with regard to both clinical work and research, communication and flexibility
