Department of Diagnostic Imaging, Akershus University Hospital and Institute of Clinical Medicine

A permanent full-time position as Senior Consultant is available at Department of Diagnostic Imaging, Akershus University Hospital. The position is affiliated with a part time position as Professor II/Associate Professor (20 % position) in Medicine (Radiology).  It is required that the position holder attends to both positions.

Regarding the full-time clinical position at Akershus University Hospital:
Akershus University Hospital (Ahus) currently provides health services to 560,000people. The Department of Diagnostic Imaging is equipped with up-to-date imaging modalities, including MRI, CT, PET CT, Mammography, Ultrasound and X-ray. The Department has two professors and one associate professor. The Radiology Section is divided into four subspecialty units including: neuro, musculoskeletal, abdominal-pediatrics and thorax. The vascular diagnostics and interventional procedures are organized as a separate section.
The department provides on-call services within general radiology, neuroradiology, vascular diagnostics and interventional procedures including mechanical thrombectomy for acute stroke, and general interventional procedures. The Department is approved for the whole period of the Radiology trainee program.

Qualification requirements:

  • Applicants must hold an MD and be a board-certified radiologist, clinically active and have a wide range of radiology competence.
  • The successful applicant will be an integrated part of the clinical activity at the department and is expected to work as a consultant within one of our subspecialties.
  • It is expected that the applicant has the broad clinical experience necessary to teach medical students in the field of radiology.
  • Personal suitability for the position will be emphasized.

Regarding the part-time academic position at UiO:

The broad ongoing research at Ahus involves several fields, including clinical research, population based health research and molecular biology research. The current ongoing research at the Department of Diagnostic Imaging is focused on advanced imaging methods with CT and MRI of different organs and diseases as well as developing artificial intelligence and new interventional techniques. The department has several collaborative research projects within different medical fields inside the hospital and nationally. The successful applicant is expected to initiate and perform research projects in collaboration with the local and clinical resources.

The University position is part time (20%), but a collaborative agreement between the Hospital and University secures that a minimum of 40% of the working time will be allotted to academic work.

Interpersonal skills and the ability to create an attractive research environment, plans for research and ambitions relating to the applicant's personal teaching practice will be emphasized. As a rule, interviews will be held and references collected. Applicants may also be required to give a trial lecture.
